I was born in Flandreau, SD; raised in Pierre, SD. I attended the U. of South Dakota and the U. of SD Medical School. I received my MD in 1972 from the University of Minnesota. I took my internship at Sioux Valley Hosptal, now Sanford/USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. I then went to work for Mobridge Medical Clinic in 1973 and became a partner in 1974. I met my wife Mary there as she was an RN at the hospital.
In 1990 we moved to Sartell, MN, where I worked for Central MN Group Health Plan/Health Partners until late 1990. I then took a leave of absence from medicine and became a truck driver over the road, and also worked for a farmer near Huron, SD hauling grain.
I then came back to medicine n 2006 and became the Medical Director and practicing physician of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribal Clinic in Flandreau, SD. After two years there I did some locums and was primarily practicing at the Sisseton IHS Clinic in Sisseton, SD. I was then contacted by a locums company wanting to know if I would be interested in a position at Cooperstown, and here I am. I am certified in ACLS and ATLS, and Board Certified in Family Medicine.
Mary and I have four children and two grandchildren. I enjoy flower gardening, playing golf, hunting and reading classical literature.
