The Cooperstown Medical Center is celebrating
65 years of service to Griggs County.

The first Hospital Board of Directors was elected September 1946 including:
C.S. Arneson, Chairman
Mrs. S.L. Lemna, Secretary
Carl O. Johnson, Treasurer
Directors: A.C. Loder, Ed Reiten, Oscar Thompson, Oscar Idsvoog, G.E. Sola, Albert Evers, B.M. Lunde, Arnt Stokka, William Pfeifer, C.B. Herigstad, Kimball St. Clair, Harry Koplin.
Rev. Radliff acted in the capacity of executive secretary.

The Hospital became incorporated on December 17, 1946.  Ground breaking for the Hospital was in the spring of 1949.   The Hospital was competed in 1950 and opened its doors to patients on February 15, 1951. The first baby was delivered 2 days later.  Mr. & Mrs. Einar Overby became parents of a baby girl, Sandra.  Dr. L Almklov attended the delivery.
